Agricultural Advisory Board

Brookhaven Town is home to approximately 4200 acres of farmland that supports a wide diversity of agricultural enterprises producing vegetables, nursery stock, bedding plants, shellfish, sod, hops, and animal products. More than 1700 acres has been preserved for agricultural uses through the purchase of development rights by Suffolk County and the Town. Agriculture contributes to the local economy and quality of life and so the continued viability and enhancement of farming is important. The Agricultural Advisory Board advises the Town on policy issues and programs affecting the farming community and, under the direction of Supervisor Romaine, has also been instrumental in bringing the first Farmers Market to Brookhaven Town Hall.
