Safety Town

Designed to offer children instruction in Traffic Safety as well as pedestrian and bicycle safety. Brookhaven’s Safety Town is a replica of a miniature village with an indoor educational facility. Program participants receive classroom instruction, followed by hands-on experience using bicycles and miniature electric vehicles. School districts are invited to schedule field trips for third grade classes. During the summer months, classes are available for local Boy and Girl Scout troops, as well as individuals. In addition, Safety Town hosts Bicycle Safety Rodeos, Car Seat Inspections as well as a Teen Driver Survival Training program for teenagers 15 and older. Contact Us

As we enter prom and graduation season, young drivers are invited to experience the consequences of driving distracted or impaired during the Brookhaven Highway Department’s Teen Driver Safety Program. The program takes teenagers age 15 and older through a variety of interactive exercises designed to replicate the impairment created by drinking or texting. Our certified instructors talk with participants about the importance of developing safe habits while traveling the roadways. Teens will then use electric cars to complete obstacle courses designed to simulate driving while texting and impaired.
