Signage

Street Signs: There are nearly 20,000 street name signs and 11,000 stop signs across the Town of Brookhaven. Each year, the Brookhaven Highway Department replaces nearly 3,000 street signs and 1,300 stop signs. By law, the Town can only create signs in adherence with the MUTCD (Manual on Uniform Traffic Control Devices) traffic standards. To report a downed STOP sign, call 631-451-9200 during regular business hours; call 631-451-8696 (TOWN) after hours, 24/7. To report service related to any other signs (warning, regulatory or street name signs), please fill out our contact form.

Traffic Signals: The Highway Department’s Traffic Safety division is responsible for maintaining more than 500 traffic signals across Brookhaven, including flashing signals, flashing beacons and driver feedback devices. To report a traffic signal concern during business hours, please call 631-451-9200; after hours call 631-451-8696 (TOWN). Contact Us
