Traffic Safety
Our mission is to maintain and improve traffic safety on Town of Brookhaven roadways by reducing traffic-related accidents and injuries through traffic engineering and traffic safety education. The major functions of the division include maintenance and installation of traffic control devices such as traffic signals, pavement markings, street signs (signage), and guide rails. These devices are implemented for accident prevention, traffic complaint problem-solving and resolution. Contact Traffic Safety
Traffic safety educational programs include the following;
- A child passenger safety program to inspect and ensure proper installation of child safety seats
- An elementary school-age educational program held at our Safety Town facility located in Holtsville, which teaches students pedestrian, bicycle and vehicle safety
- A teen driver safety program that educates teens about the dangers of impaired and distracted driving
- An adult defensive driving educational program which may reduce the cost of your car insurance or points on a license

Teen Driver Safety Program
