The Town of Brookhaven Adult Softball program started in 1955 and has grown bigger and more successful with each year. The program consists of two seasons the spring to summer session and a fall session. In the spring, there are thirteen leagues that participate and in the fall there are six leagues.
The spring/summer session runs from April to August starting at 8 p.m. during the weekdays and 9 a.m. on Sundays. Adult softball is open to women and men, 18 years and older. The leagues offered are men’s, women’s, Fire Departments, and over 40.
The program is for residents of the Town of Brookhaven, however, each team is allowed to have five non-resident team members. At the end of each season, all teams qualify for the playoffs. Our Adult Softball program has had many accolades in the past.
Town of Brookhaven Adult Softball was recognized by the USSSA (United States Specialty Sports Association) with an award for merit from a National Organization in 1987. Then again they were recognized by the USSSA with a distinguished service award for all the tournaments held for a regional national world tournament in 1994.
Finally, in 2005 the program was inducted into the Softball Hall of Fame. A future goal of Adult Softball is to create an Over 50 league.
