Our Senior Citizen Division continuously focuses on providing programs and services that not only meet the needs of senior residents in Brookhaven Town, but also provide an avenue to meet other members of the community and engage with each other socially. Helpline
Helpline is a free telephone reassurance program for isolated or home bound seniors.

Nutrition
Residents age 60 and over receive nutritious meals from our Nutrition Program, which provides over 3,000 meals per month through our Home-Delivered Meals program and our two Congregate Dining sites.

Residential Repair Program
The Residential Repair program provides household maintenance assistance to residents age 60 and over who are homeowners, condominium owners, or apartment renters.

Rose Caracappa Senior Center
This beautiful center opened in 2008 as the Town’s first dedicated Senior Citizen Center. Join us for workshops, book discussion, card playing and Mah Jongg groups, classes for exercise and more.

Senior Clubs
Residents and taxpayers of the Town, age 60 years and older, are welcome to join one of over 18 Senior Citizen Clubs that meet at various locations throughout the Town. Clubs provide social interaction through activities, luncheons, special events and trips.

Senior Picnic
Every summer in June the Town of Brookhaven Senior Citizens Division hosts its annual Senior Picnic. Each year approximately 1,000 senior citizens attend this event, including those from more than twenty community senior groups.

The Lending Closet
Brookaven facilities host "The Lending Closet" which lends medical equipment such as walkers, wheelchairs, commodes, canes and shower chairs at no cost to Town of Brookhaven residents.

Volunteer
The Town of Brookhaven provides many opportunities for people who wish to make a difference by volunteering in their community. Senior Citizens’ programs offer several avenues for those who are interested in helping others, meeting new people, or having the satisfaction of bringing new experiences to people who have the time and motivation to learn.
