Hazardous Waste Disposal

The Town has a Stop Throwing Out Pollutants (STOP) program in place to prevent the contamination of our environment and groundwater. The STOP Facility is located at the Town’s Landfill. Residential waste only; commercial or business generated hazardous materials are not accepted at the STOP Facility.

STOP Facility Hours of Operation

  • April 1 to October 31: Wednesdays and Saturdays: 8 a.m. to Noon
  • November to March 31: Saturdays: 8 a.m. to Noon

Materials must be transportable, in sealed containers and clearly labeled indicating product. Containers brought to the facility cannot be returned unless a technician is on hand. Explosives, ammunition, flares, fireworks, radioactive materials, medical waste, asbestos and large drums are not accepted at the STOP Facility.

Oil-based paint is no longer accepted as household hazardous waste. Instead, the Town has established a paint recycling program adjacent to the STOP Facility. Please visit our paint recycling page to learn more.
