Committees
The voluntary members of the advisory committees and commissions are appointed each year by the Town Board to identify and respond to Town policy issues and programs affecting the viability of the residents, disseminate information, and make recommendations that affect Town procedures.

Agricultural Advisory Board
The Agricultural Advisory Board advises the Town on policy issues and programs affecting the farming community and, under the direction of Supervisor Romaine, has also been instrumental in bringing the first Farmers Market to Brookhaven Town Hall.

Animal Shelter Committee
In order to facilitate outreach, education and adoptions, the Town Board of the Town of Brookhaven has established an “Animal Shelter Advisory Committee.”

Anti-Bias Task Force
The Town of Brookhaven’s Anti Bias Task Force shall identify and respond to prevent all forms of bias through a program of education, legislative activism and cultural initiatives that promote the diversity and unity of the people of Brookhaven Town.

Arts & Humanities Council
The Arts and Humanities Council (BAHC) is dedicated to assisting and supporting artists who live and/or work in Brookhaven Town and to enhance the cultural life of the community.

Asian American, Native Hawaiian, Pacific Islander
The Town of Brookhaven recognizes the extraordinary contributions and accomplishments of the thriving Asian American, Native Hawaiian, and Pacific Islander community in Brookhaven.

Black History Commission
In 1991, a Black History Month Committee was formed in observance of Black History Month.

Business Advisory Council
The Council’s key function is to assist Town government by disseminating information to and from the small business communities.

Disability Task Force
On September 30, 2014 Supervisor Edward Romaine and the Town Board passed resolution 2014-672 establishing the Town of Brookhaven’s Disability Task Force.

Drug Prevention Coalition
Substance use and abuse is on the rise in our country and presents a serious national and local problem within communities.

Hispanic Advisory Board
The Hispanic Advisory Board exists to serve as a liaison between the Hispanic community in the Town of Brookhaven and the Supervisor.

Historic District Advisory Committee
The Historic District Advisory Committee (HDAC) advises the Commissioner of Planning, Environment and Land Management on all matters relating to historic districts, historic district transitional areas and historic landmarks.

INTERFACE Steering Committee
In 1982, the Town established the INTERFACE program through the Youth Bureau in response to President Reagan’s Private Initiative Policy, where corporations were encouraged to cooperate with municipalities to help fill the voids created by domestic spending cuts.

Open Space Advisory
The Open Space and Farmland Acquisition Advisory Committee, formed in 1999 through a duly-adopted resolution of the Town Board, currently consists of 14 members who were selected based on their expertise and to ensure adequate geographic representation throughout the Town.

Port Jeff Harbor Commission
The Port Jefferson Harbor Commission holds a public meeting in the spring, before the season begins, and in the fall, after the season is over.

Senior Citizen's Commission
Established in 1967, the Commission is an independent body comprised of 15 members.

Women's Advisory Board
The Division of Women’s Services was created in 1986 through the efforts of many concerned residents and has since grown to include a variety of services which has assisted thousands of women over the years.

Youth Board
This board is comprised of volunteers from the Brookhaven community who advise the Brookhaven Youth Bureau about issues affecting youth.
