New York State law requires all dogs 4 months or older to be licensed and to have their license renewed each year. The Town Clerk is responsible for the licensing of all dogs in the Town of Brookhaven. Applicants must be 18 years of age or older.
How to Apply
To apply, you will need your dog’s current rabies vaccination certificate, proof of spay/neuter from your veterinarian (if applicable) and the license fee. Apply Online

Service Dog (Police, War, Guide or Hearing Dog): No Fee (Proof must be submitted)
Payment may be made by check or money order payable to “Donna Lent, Brookhaven Town Clerk” through the mail, by cash, check or credit/debit card in the office, or by credit/debit card or e-check online. Personal checks must include the account holder’s address and telephone number. A service fee of 2.35% (minimum fee of $1.50) will be added to all credit/debit card transactions and a service fee of $1.75 will be added to all eCheck transactions.
