Dog Licenses

New York State law requires all dogs 4 months or older to be licensed and to have their license renewed each year. The Town Clerk is responsible for the licensing of all dogs in the Town of Brookhaven. Applicants must be 18 years of age or older.

To apply by mail, complete and submit the Dog License application along with your dog’s current rabies vaccination certificate, proof of spay/neuter from your veterinarian (if applicable) and fee. Download our Dog License Application (PDF)

License Fee Schedule

  1. Spayed/Neutered Dog: $7.00 Each
  2. Intact Dog (Not Spayed/Not Neutered): $15.50 Each
  3. Replacement Dog Tag: $5.00 Each
  4. Service Dog (Police, War, Guide or Hearing Dog): No Fee

Payment Option

Payment may be made by check or money order payable to “Brookhaven Town Clerk” through the mail or by credit/debit card or e-check online. Personal checks must include the account holder’s address and telephone number. A service fee of 2.35% (minimum fee of $1.50) will be added to all credit/debit card transactions and a service fee of $1.75 will be added to all eCheck transactions.
