With the Thanksgiving holiday quickly approaching, JVC Broadcasting and its roster of five radio stations is once again hosting their annual “Food Fight Against Hunger” food drive to support the Brookhaven INTERFACE Program.
Saturday, November 17 and Sunday, November 18 from 10:00 am to 6:00 pm.
All five radio stations, including Party 105, My Country 96.1, La Fiesta 98.5, LI News Radio 103.9 and Oldies 98.1 will battle each other to see who can collect the most donated food. At past events, JVC Broadcasting has been very successful in raising donations and is looking forward to continuing in this tradition this November.
Suggested food items for donations include all non-perishables, such as canned soups, canned cranberry sauce, turkey gravy, stuffing mix, instant potatoes, canned sweet or white potatoes, rice, canned vegetables, jar or canned sauce, macaroni, canned fruit, puddings, jello, cookie mix, cake mix and icing and juice. Frozen turkeys will be accepted. Also, donations of $10 Gift Cards to local supermarkets will be accepted.
In 1982, the Town established the INTERFACE program through the Youth Bureau in response to President Reagan’s Private Initiative Policy, where corporations were encouraged to cooperate with municipalities to help fill the void created by domestic spending cuts. It is a public-private partnership between “good corporate neighbors’ and the Town of Brookhaven. We work together with a common goal to provide help to families that are less fortunate. The INTERFACE program provides a variety of goods and services to those in need through volunteerism and generous donations from our partners. The Town greatly appreciates the efforts of the volunteers and the generosity of Town residents who donate to all these worthy causes. For more information, go to the Brookhaven Town website.
