Farmingville, NY –  This week, Councilwoman Valerie M. Cartright attended Veterans Day and Armistice Day observances in Council District 1. Her first event was on November 9 at the Setauket Village Green (top photo) where she joined Suffolk County Legislator Kara Hahn, who announced a partnership within the Stony Brook, Setauket and Port Jefferson communities to update four existing war memorials. Legislator Hahn along with multiple VFW and American Legion Posts have come together to create the Veterans Memorial Fund to update the memorials by including more recent conflicts. The Veterans Memorial Fund will be raising money and working to ensure that these memorials reflect all those who gave the ultimate sacrifice. Supervisor Ed Romaine also attended the event. On November 11, Councilwoman Cartright attended the American Legion Wilson Ritch Post 432 Centennial Veterans Day/Armistice Day Memorial Observance Remembrance at the Port Jefferson Harbor Veterans Memorial Park (bottom photos). She was joined by Assemblyman Steven Englebright (left) and County Legislator Hahn (center). She also met with members of VFW Post 3054 in East Setauket later in the day.

"Words are not enough to express my appreciation for all that veterans do for this country. It is my honor to live in a county and district with so many active veterans who do much for their communities in and out of the military service. The Town of Brookhaven will continue to support our veterans, their families and veteran's initiatives," said Councilwoman Cartright.
