Farmingville, NY – On November 11, Brookhaven Town Supervisor Ed Romaine and Councilman Dan Panico attended the first annual Veterans Day Parade. During the post-parade ceremony, they honored parade Grand Marshal Paul Haines, a Vietnam veteran, with a proclamation recognizing his service to the country and community. Mr. Haines comes from a family of veterans. His grandfather served in World War I, his uncles served in World War II, two of his brothers served in Vietnam and his third brother and his son served in the Navy. During his service, he was decorated numerous times, including the Navy and Marine Corps Commendation Medal, the Combat Action Ribbon, the Navy Presidential Unit Citation to name a few. Supervisor Ed Romaine said, “I congratulate Paul for being named Grand Marshal and thank him and all our veterans for their selfless and courageous service to our country. It is an honor to share Veterans Day with such a patriotic group of people who have sacrificed so much in the name of liberty.”
Councilman Panico said, “I am honored to recognize the men and women who have sacrificed so much to preserve freedom and liberty around the world. It is important that our veterans know we are grateful for their service, courage and patriotism.”
