Farmingville, NY –  On November 15, Supervisor Ed Romaine (at podium), members of the Town Council, the Department of Housing and Human Services and the Long Island Housing Partnership announced the 2018 Town of Brookhaven’s Down Payment Assistance Program for First-Time Homebuyers. This program will provide eligible first-time homebuyers with up to $20,000 in down payment/closing costs toward the purchase of an eligible, new or existing single-family home, provided that the applicant is eligible and meets all program requirements. Funding for this program comes from the U.S. Department of Housing and Urban Development.

Supervisor Romaine said, “This program will make the dream of home ownership a reality for families in Brookhaven Town. I want to thank the Long Island Housing Partnership for working with Brookhaven Town to administer this program, and the U.S. Department of Housing and Urban Development for providing the funding.”

Councilman Michael Loguercio, who serves as the Town Board Liaison to the Department of Housing and Human Services, said, “This program will make it a lot easier for young people who grew up living in the Brookhaven area to purchase a home and remain a part of the Brookhaven community. It is very gratifying to know how much of a difference this program can make for first time homebuyers.”
