Farmingville, NY – At the May 3 Town Board meeting, Councilmen Kevin LaValle (third from right) honored Sachem East High School student Danielle Cosgrove (center) for being named Suffolk County Girls Basketball Player of the Year by Newsday and the Suffolk County Girls Basketball Association. Danielle, who played center for the “Flaming Arrows,” finished her high school basketball career with 1,573 points, the second highest total in the school’s history. Her 1,037 career rebounds are a Sachem record. Danielle will attend the University of Notre Dame in the fall where she will play basketball for the “Fighting Irish.”

Councilman LaValle said, “Sachem East has a long history of outstanding athletes and Danielle has kept that tradition going throughout her career. It takes hard work and dedication to excel at the next level, but I am confident that she will succeed. I wish her the best of luck at Norte Dame.”
