Farmingville, NY – At the February 14 Town Board Meeting, Councilman Loguercio and the Town Board were joined by local firemen and nurses from Stony Brook University Hospital to declare “Burn Awareness Week” in the Town of Brookhaven. National Burn Awareness week is an initiative of the American Burn Association where burn, fire and life safety educators, come together to make the public aware of the devastation of burn injuries, advances in treatment, first aid and protocols that provide increased survival rates. Burn Awareness week is the week of February 3 to 9.
Councilman Loguercio said, “As a first responder myself, I see firsthand so many different types of emergencies. Our first responders are always there to answer the call and I know my colleagues would echo my sentiment to thank all our first responders who devote their lives and careers to treating, caring for and protecting the lives of all of us.”
