Farmingville, NY –  On March 8, Councilwoman Jane Bonner attended the annual Friends of St. Patrick Luck of the Irish Casino Night held at East Wind Long Island in Wading River. She was there to honor the newly crowned Queen, Royal Court, and Grand Marshal for the 69th Annual Miller Place-Rocky Point St. Patrick’s Day Parade. Councilwoman Bonner said, “The Miller Place-Rocky Point Saint Patrick’s Day Parade is one of the best around and I was happy to honor this year’s Grand Marshal, Queen and her court. The parade is a great North Shore tradition that draws more and more people and this year was no exception.”

The Miller Place-Rocky Point St. Patrick’s Day Parade has a rich history that dates back to 1949, when two local businessmen, John M. Sullivan and George Faulkner, formed a committee of local residents and businessmen to organize a parade. On March 11, 1950, the first Grand Marshal, John Sullivan, led the parade down Route 25A from Miller Place to downtown Rocky Point. Nearly 1,000 people attended the inaugural event.
