Councilwoman Bonner Attends VFW “Voice of Democracy” Essay Contest Awards Ceremony at Post 6249

Farmingville, NY –  On March 26, Councilwoman Jane Bonner attended the 2018-2019 Voice of Democracy Essay Contest Awards Ceremony at VFW Post 6249 in Medford. Every year, the Veterans of Foreign Wars holds the contest to give high school students the opportunity to participate and win scholarships at the local post, county, district, state and national level. This year’s theme was “Why My Vote Matters.” Pictured left to right are Thomas Najdzion, Voice of Democracy Chairman, Riverhead Commander and Jr. Vice Commander of SCCVFW; contest winners Alek K. Zahradka; Katherine E. Brennan and Grace C. Guttieri; and William Hughes, Centereach VFW Post 4927 Commander.

Councilwoman Bonner said, “It’s always great to meet patriotic youngsters like Alek, Katherine and Grace who understand the importance of voting in our country. I congratulate them for winning the essay contest and wish them luck in the future.”
