Farmingville, NY – On Thursday, April 25, Councilwoman Jane Bonner will co-host a NARCAN training event with New York State Assemblyman Anthony Palumbo and Community Action for Social Justice (CASJ) from 7:00 pm to 8:00 pm at the VFW Hall, 109 King Road in Rocky Point. NARCAN is a medication that can reverse the effects of an opioid overdose. Residents ages 18 and older from all Brookhaven communities are welcome to attend. Those interested in participating must register by calling 631-451-6964 or email CouncilwomanBonner@BrookhavenNY.gov by April 18.
Community Action for Social Justice is a not-for-profit organization that fosters improved health and quality-of-life for Long Islanders impacted by drug use, incarceration, homelessness, and chronic disease through participant-centered services and policy advocacy to reduce broader social and structural barriers.
Councilwoman Bonner said, “If anyone knows a person, young or old, who is struggling from opioid addiction, this program could save a life. I hope someday these events are no longer needed, but until that day comes we are here to help.”
