Farmingville, NY – On April 13, Councilwoman Jane Bonner (left) attended Sound Beach Fire Department’s Annual Installation Dinner at East Wind Long Island in Wading River where she honored the company’s members for their service to the Sound Beach community. Certificates of Congratulations were presented to the Members of the Year, members with Year of Service milestones and outgoing officers. Pictured with the Councilwoman are Sound Beach Fire Department member Tom Heemsoth and his wife Deborah. In February of this year, Mr. Heemsoth received a life-saving kidney transplant from his wife. In 2016, Councilwoman Bonner herself was a kidney donor and is a strong advocate of kidney transplant surgery.
Councilwoman Bonner said, “Volunteer firefighters give so much time to the communities they serve, and I thank them for their courage and dedication. It’s an honor to recognize them for the sacrifices they make and their bravery in the line of duty.” She also noted that April is Living Donor month
