Farmingville, NY -  Recently, Supervisor Ed Romaine (back row, right) and Councilwoman Jane Bonner (back row, center) joined the Rocky Point Lions Club and the Fourth Grade Foresters Program to revitalize Arbor Day at our local schools. Over 900 fourth grade students from the Laddie A. Decker Sound Beach School in Miller Place, Joseph A. Edgar Intermediate School in Rocky Point, Wading River Elementary, the Miller Avenue School in Shoreham/Wading River and Mount Sinai Elementary School in Mount Sinai joined with students across the nation to celebrate Arbor Day by receiving a Norway spruce tree/seedling at no cost to plant at home.

Supervisor Romaine said, “A big part of my ‘Green Initiative” program is planting more trees throughout the Town and the Fourth Grade Foresters are playing an important role in that effort. With their help, we are sure to reach and exceed our goal of planting 10,000 trees by 2020.”

Councilwoman Bonner said, “We can always rely on children to do their part to protect and preserve the environment. I thank the Rocky Point Lions Club for sponsoring the Foresters Program and renewing their interest in Arbor Day.”
