Farmingville, NY - Brookhaven Councilman Dan Panico (back row, left) recently attended a ceremony at Dayton Avenue Elementary School in Manorville, where he presented 3rd grade students with Certificates of Recognition for establishing a stay "Humble and Kind" initiative in the district. Since establishing the initiative, it has quickly spread throughout the Manorville community and to surrounding communities as well. Inspired by lyrics in the Tim McGraw song, "Humble and Kind," students - at the encouragement and direction of their teachers - started a letter writing campaign spreading the message to be "Humble and Kind." They also hosted a fundraiser for a local family in need. News of their good deeds spread and it wasn't long before the Town of Brookhaven's Highway Department lent support by advertising the message on electronic billboards along various Town highways.

This campaign became infectious throughout our communities," noted Councilman Panico. "It's a simple message that we often forget, and we are grateful to these students for reminding us how important it is to remain "Humble and Kind."
