Councilwoman Cartright speaking at event

Farmingville, NY -  On May 19, Councilwoman Valerie M. Cartright (at podium) joined the Memorial Day services at the Brookhaven Volunteer Firefighters Museum in Ridge, a not-for-profit organization that educates visitors about the history of volunteer firefighting. The museum’s mission is to exhibit the history and heritage of firefighting through artifacts, and maintains pieces of vintage firefighting apparatus as a means of education as well as a memorial to firefighters who have passed. The museum hosts an annual Memorial Day ceremony on the weekend before Memorial Day and includes every Fire Department in the Town of Brookhaven. Brookhaven Town firefighters who have passed away in the prior year are recognized and honored during the annual Memorial Day ceremony.

Councilwoman Cartright said, “I am grateful for the firefighters who sacrifice so much of their time to serve the residents of the community. Our community will always remember those we lost over the past year for their commitment and selfless service. I will continue to lift their families up in prayer.”
