Farmingville, NY -  On June 4, Councilwoman Jane Bonner visited Carrabba’s Italian Grill in Smithtown to thank Grassroots Self Direction program and generate awareness for their work with special needs people. Grassroots Self Direction is a support brokerage for adults and children with special needs who have chosen to participate in a home and community-based waiver service called “Self Direction.” The service allows an adult or child with special needs to develop a path of their own choosing with their circle of support. The participants work on goals that are important to them while working with the support staff who are trained to help them meet their goals. Councilwoman Bonner said, “Grassroots Self Direction has done so much for people with special needs and they deserve to be recognized for their efforts. We need more people to get involved and make a difference in someone’s life.”
