Farmingville, NY - On July 4, Councilwoman Jane Bonner, the Town of Brookhaven, JVC Broadcasting, the Reitzig family and Hope House Ministries will present the “WAR on Addiction Rally” in loving memory of Billy Reitzig of Miller Place. Billy tragically passed away from a first-time accidental heroin overdose in April 2016 at 25 years young. The “WAR on Addiction Rally” will be held from 5:30 pm to 9:30 pm at the Long Island Community Hospital (LICH) Amphitheater, located at 1 Ski Run Lane in Farmingville. During the rally, the WAR on Addiction team will be on hand with educational information and resources and attendees will be treated to live music, giveaways and a spectacular July 4th fireworks show.
The War on Addiction Rally is designed to generate awareness, educate and raise funds to help with prevention, treatment, recovery and fundraising all while advocating public policy change. All proceeds will benefit Hope House Ministries in Port Jefferson and support the work they do to help fight addiction and assist in the care of those who are trapped by drug and alcohol abuse.
Councilwoman Bonner said, “Staging the War on Addiction Rally during the July 4th fireworks show will certainly draw a big crowd and introduce thousands of people to this very worthy cause. No family should have to go through the pain of losing a child to substance abuse or watching them suffer each day. Together, we can help our friends and the families who are in crisis.”
