Farmingville, NY - On July 26, Councilman Michael Loguercio (left) attended the “Blessings in a Backpack” Longwood Chapter Fundraiser at Gray’s Hardware in Ridge. The charitable organization packs bags of food for over 350 children in the Longwood School District every weekend. Many vendors and community organizations participated in the event, including members of the Ridge Fire Department who took their turn in the dunk tank to raise money for the kids. Pictured with Councilman Loguercio, who is also a member of the Ridge Fire Department, is volunteer Trisha Ewald.
“Thank you to Trisha and her amazing volunteers,” said Councilman Loguercio, who is an annual sponsor of the event. “These folks work tirelessly to see that the children who may otherwise not have meals on the weekend, go home with sustenance. This organization continues to see that children aren’t going hungry. Thank you to the Ridge Fire Department for being a huge support to causes such as these in our community. It does take a village to raise a child.”
