Farmingville, NY -  To mark the 29th anniversary of the signing of the Americans with Disabilities Act (ADA), Supervisor Ed Romaine recently visited the office of the Suffolk Independent Living Organization (SILO) in Holtsville. The ADA ensures the protection of the civil rights of people with disabilities. Over the past year, SILO has helped more than 7,000 individuals across Long Island by assisting them to overcome the many obstacles that they confront during the course of their day.

Supervisor Romaine said, “The Americans with Disabilities Act has helped to protect people against discrimination and has enabled them to live more productive lives. I applaud the Suffolk Independent Living Organization for their efforts to help our neighbors with disabilities who have benefited from this landmark civil rights legislation.”

Pictured with Supervisor Romaine (back row, second from left) are Assemblyman Joe DeStephano (back row, left) and County Comptroller John Kennedy (back row, center).
