Town to Open West Meadow Beach for Perseids Meteor Shower Viewing on the Night of Monday, August 12

Farmingville, NY - Councilwoman Valerie M. Cartright has announced that the Town of Brookhaven’s West Meadow Beach will remain open until 10:30 pm on Monday, August 12 for stargazers to get an unobstructed view of the Perseids Meteor Shower. Perseids are a prolific meteor shower associated with the comet Swift–Tuttle. The meteors are called the Perseids because the point from which they appear to hail in the constellation Perseus.
