Supervisor Romaine Honors US Naval Academy Midshipmen at Port Jefferson Harbor

Farmingville, NY -  On August 9, Supervisor Ed Romaine was at Port Jefferson Harbor to honor the United States Naval Academy Midshipmen on their first ever visit to the north shore village. The 50 Midshipmen (male and female), who were on-board five sailboats, began their journey to Port Jefferson at the US Naval Academy in Annapolis, Maryland, stopping along the way in Freeport on the south shore of Long Island. The trip is part of the Naval Academy’s Summer Navigation and Seamanship Training Block program. Once docked at Port Jefferson, the boats were opened to the public for tours on Friday and Saturday. Pictured left to right are Supervisor Ed Romaine; Retired Captain and two-time Space Shuttle Astronaut Ken Reightler, who served as the Commander of the sailboats; Port Jefferson Village Mayor Margo Garant; NYS Assemblyman Steve Englebright and Patchogue Village Mayor Paul Pontieri.
