- Free car seat inspection from 7:30 am until 11:30 am, during which Suffolk County Sheriffs and certified technicians from the Brookhaven Highway Department will inspect car seats and provide parents with essential information about choosing the correct car seat;
- Free bicycle safety rodeo, including a safety inspection and non-competitive skills course for kids of all ages, from 12:00 pm to 3:00 pm; and
- Highway safety demonstrations and interactive displays performed by various participating organizations including law enforcement and emergency services from 11:00 am to 3:00 pm.
Additional Details
Participants are required to bring their own helmets and bicycles for participation in the bicycle rodeo; both will be inspected for safety. Participating Organizations
Organizations participating in the highway safety demonstrations include: the Suffolk County Sheriff’s Office, the Suffolk County Police Department, Suffolk County FRES, Holtsville Fire Department, Long Island Rail Road, and Long Island ABATE. In addition, Moe’s will be distributing complimentary chips and salsa to attendees during the highway safety demonstrations.

Highway Department
The Brookhaven Highway Department is one of the largest in the State of New York, behind only the New York State Department of Transportation and the New York City Department of Transportation. Brookhaven is geographically the largest town in the state, larger than the entire county of Nassau.
Traffic Safety
The Traffic Safety Division's mission is to maintain and improve traffic safety on Town of Brookhaven roadways by reducing traffic-related accidents and injuries through traffic engineering and traffic safety education. The major functions of the division include maintenance and installation of traffic control devices such as traffic signals, pavement markings, signage and guide rails. These devices are implemented for accident prevention, traffic complaint problem-solving and resolution.
