5K Run, Pet Walk and Swim

Join the Town of Brookhaven 5K Run Wild “Fur” the Animals and Family Pet Walk


The 5K Run/Walk supports the more than 100 injured and non-releasable wild and farm animals residing at the Holtsville Ecology Site year-round.

When and Where

Saturday, October 5, 2019
Holtsville Ecology Site: 249 Buckley Road, Holtsville, NY 11742


5K Run: $25 pre-registration for timed race; register at the EliteFeats website. Prizes/awards to top finishers; sweet tech t-shirts guaranteed to first 100 registered runners; 7:30 am registration / check-in; race begins at 9:00 am

Family Pet Walk: $5 registration fee per individual (5 years and under free); pre-register at our registration Web page or call 631-758-9664. Prizes for top 3 fundraisers/most pledges raised; t-shirts for all individuals who raise more than $100 and event bracelets for all registrants; walk begins at 10:30 am; If you would like to help the Ecology Site, please consider downloading our Pledge Sheet and bring the completed form with you to the event

Pet Swim: $10 per pet; call to register. Half-hour sessions available from 11:00 am - 2:00 pm; 20 dogs per session

Woof Fest

Following the Run/Walk, Brookhaven Town’s Woof Fest will begin at 11:00 am The day’s activities include family fun activities with your pets, kids' crafts, games, puppet show, animal education programs, a pet costume contest, and demonstrations. Vendors are welcome. Please call 631-451-6118 for an application. Learn more about Woof Fest

In the event of rain, all activities will be moved indoors to the Ecology Site buildings. Parking is free throughout the day. View more information about the fun day (PDF).
