Farmingville, NY - On October 6th, Supervisor Edward Romaine and Councilwoman Valerie M. Cartright celebrated the 26th Annual Walk for Beauty at the Stony Brook Village Center. All proceeds were donated to the Breast Cancer Research at Stony Brook Medicine. Since the walk’s inception, $1,415,000 has been raised for breast cancer research. Pictured are Supervisor Romaine, Councilwoman Cartright and Ward Melville Heritage Organization president Gloria Rocchio thanking the participants for their support of the Walk for Beauty.
Supervisor Romaine said, “The Walk for Beauty is an inspiring event and I was happy to take part in it again this year. It really shows that if we join together for a cause, we can make a difference in the lives of so many people.”
Councilwoman Cartright said, “Serving on the planning committee is very rewarding. This year is an encouraging year for Breast Cancer research. Hearing Dr. Hunnun speak about the advances in research and how some of those were brought about as a result of the funding this walk provides helps us know that we are truly making an impact and a difference in the fight against breast cancer.”
