Supervisor & Councilwoman Visit Schools to Promote the Fourth Grade Foresters USA Program

Farmingville, NY – In Celebration of Arbor Day (April 27), Supervisor Ed Romaine and Councilwoman Jane Bonner joined the Rocky Point Lions Club at the Wading River Elementary School (left photo) and the Laddie A. Decker Sound Beach School (right photo) to speak with students about Arbor Day and to hand out tree seedlings. The Lions Club sponsored the event to generate interest in Arbor Day while enhancing our local environment. More than 900 fourth grade students from five north shore schools are joining students across the nation by taking home a free Norway spruce tree seedling to plant at their homes as part of the “Fourth Grade Foresters USA” program, which was created to provide a simple and inexpensive way for any individual, business or organization to send the fourth grade students home with a tree of their own to plant and care for.
