Councilman Panico and Town Board Honor Center Moriches High School Robotics Team

Robotics team stands with awards and councilmembers

Farmingville, NY - At the May 3 Town Board meeting, Councilmen Dan Panico (left) and the Town Board honored the Center Moriches High School Robotics Club "Team 4458." The Center Moriches team won the First Place Alliance at the 2018 New York Tech Valley Regional FIRST (For Inspiration and Recognition of Science and Technology) Robotics Competition held in March at Rensselaer Polytechnic Institute in Troy, New York. They competed against robotics teams from the United States, Canada and Brazil. FIRST Robotics is an organization designed to help students all over the world who are interested in science, technology and engineering. The Center Moriches Robotics Club was also recognized by Councilman Panico for other accomplishments, including:

  • Recipients of the Entrepreneurship Award as the best managed robotics team
  • Semi-finalists at the School-Business Partnership of Long Island (SPBLI) regional competition at Hofstra University
  • First-time competitors at the Detroit World Championships, where they were ranked 30th in the nation
  • Two Dean's List Semi-finalists for outstanding student leaders
