Farmingville, NY - In celebration of Earth Day (April 22), the Town held its annual "Free Tree, Mulch and Compost Giveaway" on April 21 at Town Hall as part of Supervisor Ed Romaine's "Greening Brookhaven" initiative. The goal of the initiative is to distribute and plant 10,000 tree seedlings by 2020, the same goal date for the Green Energy and Sustainability initiative for Town facilities. The free mulch and compost will continue to be available at various Town locations while supplies last. Mulch and compost is not bagged, so residents must provide their own containers and load the materials themselves into their vehicles. For more information, please call 631-451-TOWN.
