Town Puts Contingency Plan in Place for Residential Pickup in Affected Areas

Farmingville, NY - Brookhaven Town officials were served notice at approximately noon on Tuesday, December 31, 2019 that Quickway carting would no longer honor their contract to collect residential trash from the areas they service in Brookhaven, effective immediately. The sudden announcement affects approximately 20 percent of the carting districts within the Town of Brookhaven.

Brookhaven Town is working with other local carting companies to immediately put contingency plans in place to ensure that all residents in the affected areas will have carting service to remove their residential trash and recycling without significant disruption of service.

The affected communities include portions of Shoreham, Rocky Point, Port Jefferson Station, Farmingville, East Patchogue and Manorville.

Quickway carting was one year into a multi-year contract where they were the successful bidder for residential refuse and recycling services. The Town of Brookhaven intends to pursue every available legal option as a result of this carter’s unacceptable actions.

Updates on this issue will be made on the Town’s Department of Recycling and Sustainable Materials Management Web page and social media platforms (Facebook, Twitter).
