Farmingville, NY - On January 4, Councilwoman Jane Bonner attended the Court of Honor Ceremony for Boy Scout Troop 161 of Shoreham. The ceremony was held at Wading River Fire Department headquarters. The Court of Honor ceremony recognizes Boy Scouts who have attained the highest rank of Eagle Scout. Pictured left to right are Tom Nappel, representing Assemblyman Anthony Palumbo; Councilwoman Bonner; County Legislator Sarah Anker; Boy Scouts Benjamin Carrier, Conner Blunnie, Erik Epp and Christopher Kenter; County Legislator Al Krupski, State Senator Ken LaValle and Riverhead Town Supervisor Yvette Aguilar.

“Congratulations to all of the new Eagle Scouts for completing their projects and achieving the rank of Eagle Scout,” said Councilwoman Bonner. “Boy Scouts are the leaders of tomorrow and from what I can see of this outstanding group of young man, we’ll certainly be in good hands.”

Since the award was first presented in 1912, no more than four percent of all Scouts have attained the rank of Eagle Scout, the highest rank attainable in the Boy Scouts of America (BSA). Since its introduction in 1911, the Eagle Scout rank has been earned by more than 2.5 million young men.
