Farmingville, NY - The Town of Brookhaven Youth Bureau recently participated in Unity Day 2020 at Suffolk County Community College’s Michael J. Grant Campus in Brentwood. The program was created for middle and high school students in Suffolk County and offered a chance to learn the value of building communities of peaceful coexistence. Overall, 198 students participated in the event and half the students were from the Town of Brookhaven.
The event was sponsored by the Center for Social Justice and Human Understanding, Inc., in partnership with the Suffolk County Human Rights Commission and the Suffolk County Interfaith Antibias Task Force. The program featured a special performance by “El Gritto de Poetas,” workshops and community organizations to share their resources with participants.
