Farmingville, NY - Brookhaven Town Councilman Michael Loguercio and the Town Board recently honored a young resident of Ridge whose quick actions are credited with saving his mother’s life.
On January 11, 2020 at around 8:30 am, Bobby D’Amato was home in his room. When he came out, he noticed his mom was passed out and he immediately called 911, his grandmother and the neighbor to come to the house. When the Ridge Fire Department Rescue Squad arrived, they found her with no pulse, and she was taken to the hospital. Once assessed, they found that she suffered a heart attack, and didn’t know how long she had been unconscious. She remained in a coma for about a week and a half before responding. Thankfully she is doing better and on the road to recovery. If it wasn’t for Bobby’s quick actions, she may not have made it.
Councilman Loguercio said, "As a first responder with the Ridge Fire Department, these are the types of calls we pray end well. In this case, Bobby’s quick actions assisted the EMS personnel to help provide his mother with emergency medical care and in turn saved her life. Thank you to our great first responders in the Ridge Fire Dept. and a job well done by Bobby. Today we are proud to declare it Bobby’s Day in the Town of Brookhaven."
