Brookhaven Town Suspending Senior Citizen Events, Activities at Senior Centers

Town Seal

Farmingville, NY - In response to concerns over the 2019 Novel Coronavirus (2019-nCoV), Brookhaven Town continues to closely monitor the guidance provided by the CDC, New York State Department of Health and Suffolk County Department of Health, and has determined that out of an abundance of caution all large senior citizen events are being postponed. Town Senior Citizen Center activities will be suspended beginning Thursday, March 12, 2020. Meals on Wheels deliveries will continue to our homebound senior citizen population, and seniors previously served by congregate nutrition programs at our senior centers will be offered meal delivery at their homes.

Brookhaven Town is committed to protecting the health of our residents, especially vulnerable populations, and we thank you for your cooperation in our efforts. Residents can call 631-451-TOWN (8696) or go to our homepage for more information, including Coronavirus Safety Tips and How to Avoid Exposure. Follow the Town of Brookhaven on Facebook, Instagram and Twitter @BrookhavenTown. Residents can call Suffolk County’s 311 call center or go to Suffolk County’s website for more news and information or to sign up for countywide Code Red alerts. If needed, the Town will send out e-mail alerts to residents who have registered. If you are not on the alerts list, you can sign up today at our NotifyMe page.
