Psychiatric Social Workers Provide Services to Help People Cope with Coronavirus Stress and More

Town Seal

Farmingville, NY - The outbreak of coronavirus disease 2019 (COVID-19) and the subsequent evolving uncertainty is likely to be stressful for many people. Fear and anxiety about the disease, coupled with all the changes being put in place to reduce the spread of the disease, can be overwhelming and cause strong emotions in adults and children. There may also be a financial strain on many families and an increase in incidents of child abuse, domestic violence and substance abuse due to a lack of healthy coping skills.

The Psychiatric Social Workers for Brookhaven Town are available to all residents for crisis intervention, referrals or telephone sessions to help reduce the stress of those in need. The following are some of the services available to all Town of Brookhaven residents:

  • Individual and/or Family Counseling
  • Support and Educational Groups
  • Crisis Intervention
  • Housing Referrals
  • Advocacy with Community Services
  • Case Management and Independent Living Skills
  • Intervention with Runaway and Homeless Youth
