Farmingville, NY - As we continue to work together to overcome COVID-19 by practicing social distancing, I would like to bring you up to date on operations at the Tax Office.
We are open for business Monday, Wednesday and Friday with a reduction in staffing and have put into place social distancing as per the CDC guidelines. During this time, residents can still reach the office by telephone and email and we will respond to your inquiries. My colleagues on the Town Board have sent a request to the Governor and Suffolk County to extend the deadline for payments of property taxes. However, until such time as we receive a response I would like to remind everyone that payments can be made in the following ways:
•ONLINE: is a safe and reliable method to pay from the convenience of your computer, phone or tablet device. I have worked with the vendor to cut the fee in half to 75 cents. Credit card payments remain at 2.35 percent of the amount charged, a fee which is charged by the vendor, not the Town.
•MAIL: is still a reliable method of payment, Further the postmark date is used to determine your payment date.
•DROP BOX: if you so desire, you may drop your payment in our secure drop box located at the front entrance of Brookhaven Town Hall.
When contacting the office please allow for additional time for a staff member to assist you as we are operating with reduced staffing levels. I wish you and your family to remain safe and healthy during this trying time.
