[ARCHIVED] Romaine, Losquadro Announce Annual 5K Run/Walk “Fur” the Animals & Family Fun Day

Holtsville, NY – Supervisor Edward Romaine and Superintendent of Highways Daniel P. Losquadro invite Town residents to kick off the summer by attending the second annual Run Wild – 5K Run/Walk “Fur” the Animals, followed by a Family Fun Day featuring free games and activities on Saturday, June 9, 2018.

The 5K Run/Walk supports the more than 100 injured and non-releasable wild and farm animals residing at the Holtsville Ecology Site, as well as the Kaeli Kramer Foundation, which provides sanctuary for farm animals and horses, including mustangs Callie and Valor, who live at the Ecology Site year-round.

The 5K will begin at the Holtsville Ecology Site, 249 Buckley Road, Holtsville; registration/check in is at 7:30 a.m. and the race begins at 9 a.m. For ages 10 to adult; top three male and female overall winners and top three male and female winners in individual age groups will receive awards. Pre-register at >www.elitefeats.com by June 8 for $25; $30 day of the race. Sweet tech t-shirts guaranteed to the first 100 registered.

Following the race, Brookhaven Town’s Family Fun Day will begin at 11 a.m. The day’s activities include family field day events and activities, crafts, games, vendors, face painting, a puppet show and animal education programs; a Family Corn Hole Tournament will be available for a $5 entry fee (pre-registration required at 631.451.6112). Vendors are welcome; please call for an application (must be received by Friday, June 1, 2018).

In the event of rain, all activities will be moved indoors to the Ecology Site buildings. Parking is free throughout the day.
