Farmingville, NY – On February 3, Supervisor Ed Romaine and Robert G. Allen, President and CEO of Teachers Federal Credit Union announced that TFCU will co-sponsor the Town’s 2017 recycling events. Mr. Allen presented a $2,000 check to Supervisor Romaine for the company’s participation. This is the third year that TFCU has partnered with the Town. Each year the Town holds recycling events that include paper shredding, e-waste disposal and a supervised prescription drug drop-off program in every Brookhaven Council District. Pictured left to right are Councilmember Jane Bonner, Mr. Allen, Supervisor Romaine and Councilmember Neil Foley, Town Board Liaison to the Department of Waste Management.
The 12 recycling events to be held this year will help residents properly dispose of sensitive documents which, when improperly discarded, can fall into the hands of identity thieves. Besides the green benefits of shredding and recycling paper, the Town and TFCU value the security benefits. Residents can also get rid of e-waste and expired prescription drugs in an environmentally safe manner. These recycling events are open to all Brookhaven Town residents and small businesses.
“Our recycling events have become very popular over the past few years and I thank Mr. Allen and TFCU for their partnership again this year.” said Supervisor Romaine. “We started with six events a year, but thanks to our partnership we are now able to have 12. Overall, recycling in the Town has greatly increased and I commend our residents for their efforts.”
Mr. Allen said, "Teachers Federal Credit Union is happy to once again work with the Town of Brookhaven to not only reduce our waste stream, but also protect the sensitive information of residents from identity thieves by encouraging proper disposal. We look forward to working with the Township to advance these worthy goals."
