Farmingville, NY – On Saturday, May 19, Supervisor Ed Romaine, Council Michael Loguercio and Councilwoman Jane Bonner joined “Curby,” the Town’s recycling mascot and volunteers from the Middle Island and Coram Civic Associations for the 11th Annual Great Brookhaven Clean Up. More than 4,000 people braved the rainy weather to participate in the clean-up which was held at over 100 locations throughout Brookhaven Town. It was co-sponsored by the Town of Brookhaven’s Department of Recycling and Sustainable Materials Management and Keep America Beautiful, Inc. The Annual Great Brookhaven Clean Up is part of a national effort that draws nearly 2.5 million volunteers in more than 15,000 communities across America who came together to pick up litter, renew parks, and clean miles of roadway, rivers, lakes, and seashore. Supervisor Romaine said, “Thank you to all of the volunteers who participated in this year’s Great Brookhaven Clean Up. This annual event is always a great success due to the efforts of devoted community members who have dedicated themselves to keeping Brookhaven clean.”
Councilman Loguercio said, “Thank you to all the residents that participated in the clean ups throughout the day. We are inspired by your dedication and commitment in working together to continue to make Brookhaven Town a great community.”
Councilwoman Bonner said, “Middle Island and Coram residents take great pride in their community and I’d like to thank them for helping to make the Great Brookhaven Clean-Up such a success. This event is a reminder of how important it is for residents to share the responsibility of keeping Brookhaven beautiful.”
