Farmingville, NY - On November 2, Councilwoman Jane Bonner (fourth from left) met with members of the Wading River and Ridge Fire Departments to thank Covanta Environmental Solutions for their generous donations of PPE to the departments during the COVID-19 Pandemic. Supplies for first responders were critically low and threatened to compromise their operating abilities. The donation will allow the departments to safely continue providing services to their communities. Joining Councilwoman Bonner was Suffolk County Legislator Sarah Anker (second from left) and Riverhead Town Supervisor Yvette Aguiar (fourth from left).
Supervisor Ed Romaine said, “I want to thank Covanta for donating personal protective equipment to the fire departments that protect many of the communities that make up Brookhaven town. Their generosity during a difficult time has allowed our firefighters to go about their job protected from the virus. The Town of Brookhaven has a long partnership with Covanta going back to 1989. They are a good corporate citizen that continues to help our communities during this pandemic.”
Councilwoman Bonner said, “First responders have served bravely on the frontlines since the start of the pandemic and it’s important that they have the right equipment to keep themselves and the community safe. I thank Covanta for their generosity and concern for the people who put their lives on the line for us every day.”
