Farmingville, NY - Recently, Councilman Michael Loguercio (left) hosted a recycling event at the South Country Library in Bellport. It was co-sponsored by the Town of Brookhaven’s Department of Recycling and Sustainable Materials Management and Teachers Federal Credit Union. The event attracted nearly 500 residents who dropped off 17,280 lbs. of paper and 8,084 lbs. of electronics for recycling. In addition, 12 boxes of unused and expired pharmaceuticals were collected for proper disposal by the Suffolk County Sheriff’s Department.
Councilman Loguercio said, "Thank you to the nearly 500 residents that attended this recycling event. This was as successful as it was because of the great partnership we have with the South Country Library and the Suffolk County Sheriff's Department. The amount of material that was shredded, recycled and medications safely disposed of, was tremendous. Thank you to all of the hardworking men and women who assisted our residents that day to make this a safe and smooth event for all."
