Pay Your Taxes

Pay Your Taxes

The Receiver of Taxes makes every effort to see that bills reach the taxpayer, however, the tax laws of Suffolk County state that payment of taxes on a timely basis is the responsibility of the property owner even if the tax bill has not been received. The property owner will be liable for all penalties and interest on late payments.

As tax bills are sent out in December, any person who purchases property in Suffolk County during the following year should contact the Receiver of Taxes to determine if all taxes are current. If you have not received a tax bill by the third week in December, and wish to make a payment, please contact our office.

Tax Payment Options

Changes to In-Person Payments

  • A convenient and secure 24 hour drop box located outside the front lobby of Town Hall.
    • Taxpayers can simply deposit their payment inside the drop box.
    • It will be processed, and a receipt will be mailed out on the next business day (no cash, please).
  • An exterior walk-up customer counter located on the north side of Town Hall.
    • Town staff will accept all payment types and provide a paid receipt for each transaction.
    • The walk-up customer counter is staffed Monday thru Friday from 9:00 am to 4:00 pm.

In-person payment is available until Tuesday, June 1, 2021 (closed Memorial Day, May 31). The walk-up customer counter is partially open to the elements and people should plan accordingly for any weather conditions. Also, there is limited parking at Town Hall during busy periods.

Pay Online

You can pay your taxes online from a smartphone, tablet or personal computer. For the price of little more than a postage stamp ($0.75), an e-check payment generates an immediate confirmation that your payment has been processed. You can even print out a receipt for your records. For those who choose to pay by credit card, a processing fee of 2.35% will be charged by the bank.

Payment by Mail

Payment by mail is also accepted if it is postmarked no later than January 11, 2021 for the first half and second half payments must be postmarked by Tuesday, June 1, 2021. You must return the proper stub with your payment. After your payment has been recorded, a receipt will be mailed to you. Checks should be made payable to: Louis J. Marcoccia, Receiver of Taxes. Please write your item number on your check. Please note: New York State Statute allows the town board to impose a $20 fee for dishonored checks.
