Farmingville, NY - On January 5, Councilwoman Jane Bonner (left) presented a compost tumbler to Christopher Callahan (center) from Sound Beach, the winner of the Town of Brookhaven’s “Arbor Day Compost Tumbler Giveaway” in Council District 2. The contest was held in December on the Town’s Facebook page with a winner selected from each Town Council District. Mr. Callahan stated that he “was excited to start using the compost tumbler to enhance the garden that he grows with his wife.” Also pictured is Nicole Pocchiare (right), the Town’s Environmental Educator.

Councilwoman Bonner said, “Our annual Arbor Day celebration in April was canceled due to the pandemic, but we wanted to acknowledge the importance of reducing our waste stream and making Brookhaven a greener place to live. Congratulations to Christopher and I wish him a bountiful harvest in his garden this year.”
