Farmingville, NY – On March 4, Councilman Kevin LaValle (left) presented a compost tumbler to Coleen Perrone (center) from Selden, the winner of the Town of Brookhaven’s “Arbor Day Compost Tumbler Giveaway” in Council District 3. Since the Town’s Arbor Day 2020 celebration was canceled due to the pandemic, the contest was held on the Town’s Facebook page in December with a winner selected from each Town Council District. Councilman LaValle said, “The spring gardening season is just around the corner, so winning the compost tumbler comes at the perfect time. Composting is a great way to protect the environment, reduce our waste stream and have a bountiful garden harvest of fresh vegetables. Congratulations to Coleen for being the winner and I thank her for helping to make Brookhaven a greener place to live.”
