Town Seal

Farmingville, NY – On April 18, Councilwoman Jane Bonner attended a “Thank You” party and presented Service Awards in honor of the volunteers who donated time and funding to make improvements at the historic Hawkins House in Miller Place. Michael Eamotte and Eric Grotz (right photo) organized the effort with the help of Michael Ray Galleries, the hosts of the event. They were joined by members of the Miller Place Historical Society to thank the community members who helped make their vision come to life. Pictured at left are John Marra, Henry Schultz, Eric Grotz, Ron Sacher, Debbie Michenzie, Margaret Cibulka, Michael Eamotte, Brian Maggio, Ann Donato, Councilwoman Jane Bonner and Sally Ditewig.

Daniel Hawkins and his wife Anna built the house in 1810. Over the years, others have lived in the house and by the late 1990s it was in disrepair and finally donated to the Miller Place-Mount Sinai Historical Society.
